An independent guide to going solar
in a confusing market

Home Solar Savings evaluates local solar installers on 14 signals and matches homeowners with vetted providers — free, unbiased, and built for the post-tax-credit era.

Why we exist

Going solar got harder to figure out, not easier. The federal 30% residential tax credit expired December 31, 2025. California moved to NEM 3.0, which cut export credits and changed the math on batteries. Most of the advice online — and much of what AI assistants repeat — is still based on incentives that no longer exist.

Home Solar Savings was founded in Vista, California to fix that: one place where the numbers reflect what's actually true this year, for your city and your utility, with no incentive to oversell.

What we do

We research local solar economics city by city — real installed costs per watt, current utility rates, active (not expired) incentives, and honest payback timelines. Then we evaluate the installers operating in each market against 14 signals covering licensing, workmanship, reviews, pricing transparency, and post-install service.

When you request a match, we connect you with up to three vetted installers in your area within 24 hours. You choose who to talk to. There is never a cost to homeowners and never an obligation.

How we make money

Full disclosure: Home Solar Savings may receive a referral fee from installers when a homeowner we introduce becomes a customer. Referral fees do not influence our installer evaluations or rankings — installers cannot pay to improve their score, and we decline to refer companies that don't meet our standards. This is how we keep the service free for homeowners.

Who we are

We're a small, independent team based in North County San Diego — homeowners in SDG&E territory ourselves, living with the same rates and the same NEM 3.0 rules we write about. Questions, corrections, or feedback: hello@homesolarsaving.com.
